The Maryland Public Opinion Survey (MPOS) is an annual survey used to evaluate substance misuse through prescription and non-prescription opioids. The data is analyzed for the state and also broken down for each county, giving local jurisdictions the ability to understand what influences the behaviors than lead to substance misuse specifically in their area. With this information, organizations such as the Anne Arundel County Prevention Coalitions develop strategies to reduce opioid misuse, overdoses, and deaths. With an understanding of the opinions and perceptions of residents in the areas served, the strategies can be focused for effectiveness.
