Meade High School Media Contest 2016

Why Say Yes?

WASP, recently announced the winners of its Substance Abuse Prevention Media Contest held for Meade High School students. This was the fourth year for the annual contest that was created to provide information about substance abuse and to encourage healthy behavior and choices among the county’s youth. “Why Say Yes?” was this year’s theme chosen by the students.

The poster contest winners were Thomas Mooring, first place; Tyler DeJesus, second place; and Adeola Ajani, third place. The video contest winner was Amber Roberts. Winners received a citation of merit from County Executive Steve Schuh and scholarships totaling $2,000 made possible through a donation from the Local Development Council. The contest’s panel of judges included representatives from Anne Arundel County Public Schools staff and alumni and WASP Coalition community members.

WASP’s mission is to prevent alcohol and other drug use among youth and promote safe, healthy behaviors. WASP is funded in part through a grant from the Anne Arundel County Department of Health.
